Mulch Sale a Success!Silver Spring, MD - Another year at Montgomery Blair High School, and more mulch sold. Well, 4,000 bags to be exact. During the week of April 6, 40 Blazers took to the neighborhoods to deliver the pre-ordered mulch.
"It was a task," said head coach Andrew Fields. "One can't imagine 4,000 bags - at 60 pounds per bag - and the time and manpower it takes. Our kids did an oustanding job, and represented Montgomery Blair High School with class." Assistant Coach Cory Boatman went above and beyond the call of duty, ensuring that all bags were delivered throughout the week. In total, two U-Haul trucks, two pickup trucks, six days, over 40 student-athletes, close to 1,000 miles driven, and over 800 collective manhours got the job done. "The work was worth it," said Fields. "Not only did we help the community, our kids grew together and developed a bond. And they learned a few lessons along the way. In the end, everyone was a winner." |
