Parents, a grueling summer of strength and conditioning is coming to a close. Our young men did an OUTSTANDING job. We averaged over 70 kids per workout, which is on par with what I know to be championship caliber numbers. It is hard to NOT find success when hard work is part of the ingredient.
I wanted to make you aware of several upcoming events that your son will be taking part in over the next several weeks.
Tuesday, August 6, 6 p.m.: Strength and Conditioning Testing
All players will be tested on their strength and speed.
Tuesday, August 13, 8 a.m. (Varsity), 11 a.m. (JV): Equipment Distribution
Cost: $80 (girdle, shorts, t-shirt, game socks, mouthpiece)
Players will receive football equipment for the 2013-14 football season. Any player who does not have the appropriate paperwork complete (see required documents under the parents section - password = gombhs) will not receive equipment. Please note, varsity players who have not attended at least 75% of all workouts (or participated in a winter/spring sport) may not receive their equipment until their conditioning test is passed).
Tuesday, August 13, 6:30 p.m.: Kickoff Spaghetti Dinner
Cost $5 per person
Come get all of the last minute information for the 2013-14 football season, turn in required documents and fees, meet the coaches, and enjoy our delicious, home-made spaghetti dinner. This will mark the beginning of the 2013-14 football season. Bring the family!
Wednesday, August 14, 7 a.m. (Varsity), 11 a.m. (JV): Fall Practices Begin
Varsity players will report from 7 a.m. - 6 p.m. JV players will report from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. Select JV players may be selected to participate in the afternoon varsity practice. While lunch will be available for purchase (pizza, gatorade, etc), players are free to (and should) bring their own nutritious lunch. See the nutritional guidelines link under the parent section of the website.
Saturday, August 31, 5:30 p.m.: Team BBQ in Stadium
Cost $8 per person
This festive event will celebrate your sons completion of summer camp! It will also mark the players in their jerseys for the first time, announcement of captains (as selected by their peers), food, and fun! Bring the family as we get ready for the Kennedy Cavaliers in this very stadium.
Sunday, December 15, 1:30 p.m.: Team Banquet
Cost $20 per person ($15 per person for families of 5-7, $10 per person for families over 8+)
This formal banquet will put a ribbon on the 2013-14 season. Food, awards, achievements, highlights, and family fun will be part of the days events. All players will be recognized for their efforts
